Giraffe Call Open: Siblings

Today’s Giraffe Theme is Siblings

The call for prompts is now OPEN!

I am now taking prompts on the themes of “Siblings:” having them, not having them, hating them, loving them, becoming them…

Leave one or many prompts, and I will write (over the next month) at least one microfic (150-500 words) to each prompter (prompts may be combined)

Prompts can be related to one of my extant settings (See my landing page-landing page) or they can be for something completely different.

Prompting is free! But Donations are always welcome.

For each $5 you donate, I will write an additional 500 words to the prompt(s) of your choice.

If I get two new prompters or one new donator, I will write a setting piece (setting chosen by poll) explaining something about the prompts.

At $30 in donations, T. and I will get take-out.
Reached!

At $40 in donations, everyone who donated will get an additional microfic written to their prompts. I will choose 1 non-donater at random to receive an additional microfic as well.
Reached!

At $50, anyone who donated $7.50 or more will have a copy of “Alder by Post” mailed to them if they wish.
Reached!

For every $50 donated, I will do a one-hour livewrite on Etherpad or googledocs during the next month.

At $80, I will write two extra 500-word continuations – chosen by prompters picked by random number generator.

At $120, everyone who donated will get an additional (3rd) microfic written to their prompts. I will choose 2 more non-donaters at random to receive an additional microfic as well.

If we get to $120, I will take suggestions for further incentives!

For more information on Giraffe Calls, see the landing page.

Since the theme is “siblings,” my kid brother Eli will count the donations today. Yes, he’s a dog. 😉

  1. Becoming step-siblings when you thought your parents were past the age of that sort of thing. Addergoole-born siblings who haven’t met since they were three meet again and recognise each other. Wanting not to be the only one. The imaginary big brother.

  2. Do the unicorns ever have twins? I’m assuming that the bugs, like most insectoid species, probably don’t have close family ties. They might have thousands of siblings but not care. So how would they react to tight bonds between siblings? What happens when an evil twin wishes to become good, and a good twin wishes to become evil?

  3. The Rosaceae family and some of the siblings (or cousins) therein. Peaches and almonds? Raspberry and roses? Junie and her brothers; Jimmy and its siblings. Rin’s siblings. (She’s the seventh child of a seventh child, I think? And the only one of them in the line of inheritance?) Beryl, Chalcedony, and Stone. Willard (and his sister?) Hrm. More Robbie and Eva, but I’m not sure if he has any siblings. Or if any of Eva’s siblings are going to get involved, but she has already consulted at least Fallon, so perhaps. Wouldn’t mind hearing more about the Eva / Fallon / Beryl / Stone dynamics, either. (Also, some of the later stories in the thread with Robbie are filed under Rosaria instead of Eva, on the landing page. Fortunately, you also added forward links.)

  4. Hmm… * The silly prompt: That time the files got mixed up and people found themselves with new siblings * The Tir na Cali prompt: So what does Simeon think of Baroness Jacoba asking for Caleb for a consort. * The Addergoole prompt: Two crews discover all their members are siblings of the other crew’s members. Right down to the kept. * The SF prompt: What non-blood sibling relationships might form in a creche full of genetic colonists (where instead of heading off to a colony themselves, people send genetic samples instead) * The fantasy prompt: Siblings raised in rival kingdoms. * The CSI/Law & Order/Criminal Minds/etc prompt: When the siblings discover they aren’t related, in fact their ‘parents’ kidnapped all of them… * The paranormal prompt: Ghost siblings… * The weird prompt: That time you discover your sibling is someone’s imaginary friend…

  5. What happens when an Aunt decides to get pregnant? Addergoole…the most unlikely half-siblings Rainbow siblings Identical twins (nature’s clones) The oldest and the youngest
