Story Repost: The Scores, the Stories, and the Truths

I have reposted The Scores, the Stories, and the Truths, a story of Fae Apoc, to Patreon.

Originally posted here on November 26th, 2011, it is set sometime before the apocalypse, and gives a snapshot of a non-Addergoole Fae Apoc character.

Adham Alamerta knew the score. He knew, as a matter of fact, quite a few scores.

Both a professor and a student of history and anthropology, he’d learned very early on to read the stories written between the lines of human history.

There were more stories written there than most people could imagine.

Want Ad, a short story of Fae Apoc, free for all to read on Patreon

Some stories just write themselves. I was listening to the radio, and a news-blurb came on. And I’d been thinking about writing something for Fae Apoc, sooo….

The ads weren’t working, and, worse, Richie’s last ad had gotten pulled as being “borderline obscene” — and without a refund.

He had tried the newspapers, the online apartment sites, the personals, the dating sites — and all he’d gotten was a sternly worded e-mail from gregslist and a small hole in his budget… (read on…)

I do not seek an intimate/sexual relationship, but I prefer being under the control of another.

He hadn’t thought it was all that unreasonable. It wasn’t prostitution; it wasn’t illegal; there was nothing directly against gregslist’s TOS in the ad. The site’s morality police had apparently felt differently. And nothing he’d posted anywhere else had gotten so much as a peep. Continue reading

Chase the Fox Part I – Patreon Story

Written to @DaHob’s commissioned continuation; part I of a longer story.  This comes after Fox Hunt (Saturday) and The Hunt Continues (Wednesday).

🦊

Thursday and Friday

Ariana gave her target a full day’s head start.

She wanted to give him plenty of time to clear out of the safe house she’d set up for him; she wanted to make sure he presented sufficient challenge to be interesting.

When she was ready – when she thought he was ready – it was no issue at all to slip out of the house. Her family had no interest in her activities, as long as she made the obligatory social appearances and stayed away from anything potentially embarrassing for her Lady Mother.

When she’d first gotten out of the service, she’d been bored and chafing under her enforced leisure time. Now – now she had something to do, and the last thing she wanted was for people to notice her. So she was quiet about her leaving and made sure to leave a tolerable excuse with the staff.

Her target wasn’t in the cabin anymore and he’d done a very good job of covering his tracks. She found places the dust had been wiped clean, however, so someone had been here. Chances were her prey had taken her peace offering.

The rain had been coming down in random but heavy showers, as it had been for the last three days. If she’d been trying to track him by scent, he would be well covered. But just tracking with dogs – that was for amateurs and sports-people, not for Ariana. Continue reading

Story Repost: Discovery Channel

I have reposted Discovery Channel, a story of Fae Apoc, to Patreon.

Originally posted here on October 26th, 2010, it is set in the midst of the apocalypse. I think, of all of the stories from that era, it gives the best feeling for the setting while being a decently-written story as well.

The halls of the internment camp – voluntary relocation center – were nearly empty. In the first couple weeks here, they’d been full and bouncing, as people, antsy in the confined space, a repurposed abandoned high school building, had wandered from room to room, visiting, meeting new people, just looking for an excuse to get out of their barracks…

The Poll Has Spoken: August Patreon Theme

The poll has been polled, the numbers counted, and the results for August are: Fae Apoc

The Faerie Apocalypse is the broader universe in which Addergoole and Doomsday Academy are set, the brief premise of which is that fae-like creatures with magical powers walk among us and, in 2011, they enter into a massive war with other fae-like creatures, triggering an apocalypse which wipes 90% of humanity (and fae) off the globe.

Its landing page is here: http://aldersprig.dreamwidth.org/938780.html

As always, I will write the following Patreon stories:

$5 level – a Patron-only microfiction (or, in this case, micro-continuation)

$20 level – a Patron-only flash fiction (or about 750-1250 words of continuation)

$30 level – if I gain any $7+ Patrons, they may prompt for a private continuation.

And, if we get up to $40 (one more $5 Patron & one $1 Patron! or 6 more $1 Patrons!), then we can talk about the Patreon Serial!!

Check out my Patreon here – https://www.patreon.com/aldersprig?ty=c

Let me know if there’s anything you’d like to see in fae apoc!

The Queen’s Councillor, a fiction piece of Tir na Cali

This piece is written to [profile] kc_obrian‘s prompt to my “write something short, Lyn” prompt call here. It is set in my Tír na Cali setting; read more about Cali here.

This story is open to all readers on Patreon!

Nobody knew where he had come from, and among the Queen’s courtiers, this was a strange and unheard-of occurrence. He was tall, like an American, fair and freckled, like a Californian, polite and brilliant, like a politician. He sat by the Queen’s side in meetings of state and he spoke, quietly, and only when he was asked to. He, it was said, counselled Her Majesty on all matters….
