Question du Jour

If I was going to put together of new and previously-written stories about one character from the Addergoole ‘verse (or possible one pairing), who would you like to see?

As many options as you’d like, you don’t have to belimited to just one right now!

For my next trick… a meme.

Stolen from [personal profile] recessional who stole it from [personal profile] kate

Pick a number and I’ll try to answer that question. Then you can do the meme or not as you choose.

1. Of the fic you’ve written, of which are you most proud?
2. Favorite tense
3. Favorite POV
4. What are some themes you love writing about?
5. What inspires you to write?
6. Thoughts on critique
7. Create a character on the spot… NOW!
8. Is there a character you love writing for the most? The least? Why?
9. A passage from a WIP
10. What are your strengths in writing?
11. What are your weaknesses in writing?
12. Anything else that you want to know… (otherwise known as Fill in the Blank)

Would you indulge me?

I’d like to run something like this for my ‘verses –

This is a challenge where you answer a prompt with a fic consisting of only three sentences. It’s open to all fandoms and you can post and answer as many prompts as you like. Only one prompt per comment please.

When posting a prompt please format it this way:

fandom, character/pairing, prompt word/sentence.

Lastly, please pimp this to your flist, I’d like as many as possible to come and participate!

If I did, would people participate? *bounce* It’d be fuuuun?

What’s Next?

As the post-nano emotional hangover fades, I’m looking at December and trying to figure out how to harness all this energy.

Without, of course, burning myself out.

So, what I have is:

  • Edally Academy begins posting on about January 15. By then I need:
    • at least the first 8 installations edited, cleaned up, and second-drafted
    • a web page created
    • at least one ad ready
    • at least three teasers done

  • January’s not-quite-a-nano project is Rin & Girey. By then I need:
    • to finish and smooth out the outline and figure out what, if anything, I need to change in the current iteration to make it go better in the outline.
    • to decide where it ends.

  • I have two submissions to get done in early December:
    • Superhero Romance for Good Mourning
    • 713/Kazka Oress

  • I need to wrap up and send Alder by Posts in one giant mailing of apologetic doom.
  • If I finish the submissions by the 10th, I am going to spend 15 days re-writing Addergoole Book One from the 10th-Christmas. To do that I need:
    • to finish the outline

This would leave me time for a Giraffe Call (it really would). The question is: is there interest? The last one brought in very few prompts and no $ at all. And while I love doing them, if you guys don’t like them too, there’s not so much point.

So, that’s my December and January. What about yours?

Nano Resources?

I’d like to do a comprehensive (or as close to as possible) post of nano resources.

What are your favorite links that everyone should know when attempting to write a novel in 50 days?

Brainstorming help requested: planning auction for upcoming Serial

I’m making a new setting! (I’m sure you’ve noticed)
Actually, I’m making two, but Edally Academy (Steam!Goats) is going to be my nano project. So that’s the one I’m thinking about now.

Serials take money to start: ad money, art, domain name, possibly server space. Having a seed account will mean I can start out in January with as pretty a setting as I like.

For the below list, the school has nine Houses, covering fields of study.
All of them are named for former students who had mighty achievements.
Several of them, thus, have had more than one name over the years.
The three main characters are each in a separate House.

I’m thinking of offering the following things for auction:

  • Naming rights on:
    • A Protagonist’s House
    • A background Hous
    • a former House name
    • a Head of a House (cameo)
    • a background teacher (cameo)
    • a student (cameo)

  • Create an animal that will appear in the story
  • Create a dish of food that will appear in the story
  • Create a ~thing~ or device that will appear in the story

Two questions:
Whoops, three:

  1. Do you think this will garner any interest at all?
  2. Do you have any other ideas for auction items?
  3. Suggested starting bids?
  4. Less is more? Or more is more? (i.e., cut this list down, expand on it, or it’s good)?

Also, I know I was wrong, there’s four.

If you have not yet answered What do YOU want to see in Steam!Calenta? and think you might have interest in the serial, please go put in your feedback. <3

Preliminary market research

If I were to write a Completely Different sort of sexy/kinky fantasy serial (Separate from Steam-Goats, promise), what are the top three things you’d like to see in such a serial?

What would you LEAST want to see in that story?

What setting would you like for such a story?

If your answer is “but I wouldn’t read erotic serials,” that’s okay, too.

NaNoWriMo and Addergoole

Okay, I did the math. If I keep the books at the planned wordcount, one Book of Addergoole: Original Series is about 25000 words.

I’m still going to write a bit of bonus content, so I probably won’t get all the way through TWO books of Addergoole during Nano, but I’ll get quite a way towards that goal.

And speaking of bonus material:

Are there Question-answers or Bonus stories you’d like to see updated/rewritten? Are there bonus stories I never wrote that you’d like to see?
