The Great August Rebloggening Challenge: Week 4 Check In

Home Site housekeeping Challenge

Hello, my friends!

Well, as seems to happen to me, when I go about wanting to do something for a month, life decides to have other plans.

That is, I’ve been sick for 2+ weeks and have done… nothing or nearly nothing on the Home Site Housekeeping Challenge since the end of the August 8-14th week.

So I, at least, am going to continue this for three weeks of September, in hopes of getting into a habit I can keep up when I’m more healthy.

How’s everyone else been doing?

Do you have a more comprehensible About page or more posts on your front page? Have you scheduled some posts or cleaned up some documentation?

Documentation!

That’s going to be the theme for this week, gods above and below help me.

What sort of setting documentation do you have, if you need any? (If you do blog posts, do you have an index or tags for specific topics?)_

What do you need?

I challenge you – and me – to come up with one documentation you need this week, and to add it.

I’m also challenging my readers to come up with one documentation I need, and to mention it.

Bonus points if you can help me sort out what it is that I need 😉

Suggestions/Ideas:

Timeline
Family Tree
Map
List of Titles or Title-holders
Character Descriptions
List of Laws
List of Magic Types or Magic Spells

Reference links/posts

Description of Terms used

How did your Rebloggening Month go? Are you going to keep going into September?

Cheers, friends!

  1. Oh hey you’re alive
    I’m glad you’re alive
Hope you recover soon, if you haven’t already

You need a list of sentient animals (ok you don’t actually *need* it) because likely they have backstories that will reveal themselves further.
Also you may discover that you’ve got patterns/tendencies common across your universes, after which you then get to decide whether diversity/restriction of species to certain universes is necessary.

  2. <eyes the lurking Aunt Family spreadsheet>
Character list (w/descriptions and references, or first appearances?), timeline, family tree(s), various sorts of of magic & enchantment (including divination cards (and decks), and sentient non-humans) … Sounds like I should start a re-read and get back to that. 🙂

Dragons Next Door character list & species lists.

I’d prioritize landing pages that provide links to all published stories in a storyline or ‘verse over meta-information, I think. And a list of short/standalone pieces might be a good taste-test starting point for new readers?

    • Meanwhile, fusses and warm fuzzies and hoping you’re on the mend, and please don’t push yourself too hard while you’re under the weather.

      • Thank you, <3.

I'm trying. I mean, it's kinda hard, when like... five minutes on the exercise bike is pushing too hard. >.> But I AM trying.

      • Many of them do! This is an excellent thing! I have not taken a census to know whether all of them do, or if any of them needed updating, and figured you might Just Know.

So next up in that space is adding all of the existing landing pages to the Settings and/or Long-Form Stories pages?

(I might be entirely too fond of indexes.)
